Intent 1:
To exempt constructions from the application of Sentence 9.26.5.1.(1), which would otherwise require eave protection,
where:
- the probability of ice-dam formation is low,
- the vulnerable area is beyond the point likely to be
reached by ponded water,
- asphalt shingles are installed in a manner that reduces
the roof's vulnerability to ice-dam-related leakage, or
- the roof slope is sufficiently steep to facilitate speedy
drainage and minimize the likelihood of ponding.
