Intent 1:

To limit the probability that water from firefighting operations will cause the stored products to swell, which could lead to structural failure of the building, which could lead to harm to persons, including emergency responders.

Intent 2:

To limit the probability that water from firefighting operations will cause the stored products to swell, which could lead to structural failure of the building, which could lead to:

• delays or ineffectiveness in emergency response operations, or
• impairment of automatic fire suppression systems, which could lead to such systems not suppressing or controlling a fire.

This is to limit the probability of the spread of fire, which could lead to harm to persons, including emergency responders.

Intent 3:

To supersede and increase the minimum clearance of 600 mm required in Sentence 3.2.2.3.(1).
