Intent 1:
To supersede the requirements of Sentence 3.2.7.9.(1), which would otherwise require fire suppression
systems, if certain measures are taken.
This
is to limit the probability that:
- excessive quantities of the products will be involved
in a fire, which could lead to an increase in fire severity, which
could lead to the spread of fire to other parts of the building, which
could lead to harm to persons,
- incompatible dangerous goods will be mixed or come into
contact with each other, which could lead to an adverse reaction between
the dangerous goods, which could lead to a fire or explosion, which
could lead to harm to persons, and
- a fire involving the dangerous goods will spread to
other parts of the building, which could lead to harm to persons.
