Application
Application 1: 
Fire dampers in continuous noncombustible ducts having a melting point above 760°C that penetrate a vertical fire separation as required by Sentence 3.3.1.1.(1) between suites of other than residential occupancy or care or detention occupancy.
This applies to buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A.

Intent
Intent 1: 
To exempt certain ducts from the application of Sentence 3.1.8.7.(1), which would otherwise require fire dampers, on the basis that the lack of fire dampers in this case will not lead to significant spread of fire.
