This applies to buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A, and to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9] as stated in Sentence 9.10.13.13.(1).

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that fire dampers will not be properly maintained, which could lead to their failure to close in fire conditions, which could lead to the spread of fire from one fire compartment to another fire compartment through openings in the fire separation between the fire compartments, which could lead to harm to persons in the other fire compartment.
