Objective	OS1 Fire Safety

Application	Application 1: Method of release of hold-open devices for doors in required fire separations. Exceptions: except as stated in: Sentence 3.1.8.12.(1), which applies to exit doors in buildings more than 3 storeys in building height, Sentence 3.1.8.12.(3), which applies to the release of certain doors upon a signal from a smoke detector, and Clause 3.3.5.7.(3)(c), which applies to doors for vestibules between storage garages and other parts of a building. This applies to buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A, and to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9] as stated in Sentence 9.10.13.11.(1).

Intent	Intent 1: To limit the probability that a hold-open device will not release the door to permit its closing, which could lead to the spread of fire through the door opening, which could lead to harm to persons on the other side of the fire separation.
