Application
Application 1: 
Glass blocks used for the protection of openings in fire separations having a fire-resistance rating not more than 1 h, in buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A.
Exceptions: 
except as stated in Articles 3.1.8.16. and 3.1.8.17. for the separation of exits.

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that glass block will be weakened in a fire, which could lead to the failure of the opening protection, which could lead to the spread of fire through openings in a fire separation, which could lead to harm to persons on the other side of the fire separation.
