Intent
Intent 1:
To exclude structural members supported on two separate wall assemblies from the requirements of Sentence 3.1.10.1.(1) on the basis that, in the event that one wall collapses, the other wall will not collapse and will provide at least one half of the required fire-resistance rating otherwise required for a firewall.
Intent 2:
To limit the probability that fire will spread from an adjacent building to the building, which could lead to damage to the building.
