Intent | Intent 1: To exclude structural members supported on two separate
wall assemblies from the requirements of Sentence 3.1.10.1.(1) on the
basis that, in the event that one wall collapses, the other wall will not
collapse and will provide at least one half of the required fire-resistance
rating otherwise required for a firewall. Intent 2: To limit the probability that fire will spread from an adjacent
building to the building, which could lead to damage to the building.
