Application
Application 1:
Firewall that separates 2 buildings with roofs at different elevations where the difference in elevation between the roofs is more than 3 m.
This applies to buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A, and to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9] as stated in Sentence 9.10.11.3.(1).

Intent
Intent 1:
To exempt certain firewalls from the application of Sentence 3.1.10.4.(1), which would otherwise require the firewall to extend beyond the upper roof surface to form a parapet, if certain conditions are met that provide an equivalent level of protection. This is to limit the probability that fire will spread from one building to another.
