This applies to buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A, and to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9] as stated in Sentence 9.10.11.3.(1).

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability of a large number of openings in a firewall, which could lead to the failure of the protective closures for these openings during a fire, which could lead to the spread of fire from an adjacent building to the building, which could lead to damage to the building.
