Application | Application 1: Separation of concealed spaces [fire stopping] in
exterior cornices, mansard style roofs, balconies or canopies in which exposed
construction materials within the space have a flame-spread
rating more than 25, at locations where the concealed space extends
across the ends of required vertical fire separations.
This applies to buildings described
in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A.
Application 2: This also applies, as stated in Clause 3.1.5.3.(2)(c),
to the separation into compartments of roof spaces where combustible roof
sheathing and roof sheathing supports are installed above a concrete roof
deck used in the construction of:

Intent | Intent 1: To limit the probability that certain spaces will not be
separated from certain other parts of the building, which could lead to the
spread of fire within these spaces, which could lead to harm to persons.
Intent 2: To limit the probability that fire stopping material used
to block and separate certain spaces will not remain in place for a certain
minimum time when subjected to fire conditions, which could lead to the spread
