Application
Application 1: 
Type of construction of structural members in the storey immediately below a roof assembly permitted to be of heavy timber construction according to Sentence 3.2.2.16.(1), i.e. in a building up to 2 storeys in building height that is sprinklered throughout.
This applies to buildings to which Part 3 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A for application of Part 3].

Intent
Intent 1: 
To exempt buildings referred to in Sentence 3.2.2.6.(1) from the application of Articles 3.2.2.20., 3.2.2.23., 3.2.2.24., 3.2.2.29., 3.2.2.31., 3.2.2.36., 3.2.2.37., 3.2.2.38., 3.2.2.39., 3.2.2.43., 3.2.2.49., 3.2.2.57., 3.2.2.63., 3.2.2.67., 3.2.2.68., 3.2.2.73., and 3.2.2.75., which would otherwise require the structural members to be of noncombustible construction, and permit structural members of heavy timber construction.
