Application
Application 1: 
Fire-resistance rating of a floor assembly that is entirely contained within a dwelling unit that is located within a storey in which more than 10% of the area is classified as a Group C major occupancy. This applies in buildings in which there is no dwelling unit above another dwelling unit and whose building area is restricted to:
This applies to buildings to which Part 3 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A for application of Part 3].
Exceptions: 
except:
  • a storey in which more than 10% of the area is classified as a Group C major occupancy but the building complies with the conditions of Articles 3.2.2.46., 3.2.2.47. or 3.2.2.48.,
  • a storey in which more than 10% of the area is classified as a Group C major occupancy but in addition has more than 10% of the area classified as a major occupancy that has more stringent requirements in accordance with Articles 3.2.2.20. to 3.2.2.44. and 3.2.2.46. to 3.2.2.83., and
  • a storey in which more than 10% of the area is classified as a Group C major occupancy but also has a portion of its floor area used for a Group F, Division 1 or 2 occupancy.

Intent 1: 
To exempt a floor assembly that is entirely contained within a dwelling unit from the requirement of Clause 3.2.2.45.(2)(a) that it have a fire-resistance rating.
