Application
Application 1: 
Roof assembly in a storey in which more than 10% of the area is classified as a Group D major occupancy located in a building not more than 1 storey in building height.
This applies to buildings to which Part 3 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A for application of Part 3].
Exceptions: 
except:
  • a storey in which more than 10% of the area is classified as a Group D major occupancy but the building complies with the conditions of Articles 3.2.2.51., 3.2.2.52., 3.2.2.53., 3.2.2.54., 3.2.2.55. or 3.2.2.56.,
  • a storey in which more than 10% of the area is classified as a Group D major occupancy but in addition has more than 10% of the area classified as a major occupancy that has more stringent requirements in accordance with Articles 3.2.2.20. to 3.2.2.49. and 3.2.2.51. to 3.2.2.83., and
  • a storey in which more than 10% of the area is classified as a Group D major occupancy but also has a portion of its floor area used for a Group F, Division 1 or 2 occupancy.

To exclude a roof assembly from the requirements of fire-resistance rating on the basis that the building is restricted to one storey in building height.
