Application
Application 1: 
Fire-resistance rating of floor, wall, ceiling and roof assemblies in a storey in which more than 10% of the area is classified as a Group F, Division 3 major occupancy. This applies in buildings used as a storage garage with all storeys constructed as open-air storeys, having no other occupancy above it and that is:
This applies to buildings to which Part 3 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A for application of Part 3].

Intent
Intent 1: 
To exempt certain buildings from the requirements for a fire-resistance rating of floor, wall, ceiling and roof assemblies in Articles 3.2.2.73. to 3.2.2.79. if measures are taken to limit the probability that combustible construction materials within a storey of a building will be involved in a fire, which could lead to the growth of fire, which could lead to the spread of fire within the storey during the time required to achieve occupant safety and for emergency responders to perform their duties, which could lead to damage to the building.
