Application | Application 1: Minimum fire-resistance rating of
an exposing building face, where a limiting
distance shown in Tables 3.2.3.1.B. or 3.2.3.1.D. for a Group E, or Group F, Division 1 or 2 occupancy classification permits an exposing
building face to have unprotected openings consisting
of more than 25% but less than 100% of the exposing
building face.

Application 2: This also applies to exterior walls enclosing an attic or roof space located above an exposing
building face, as stated in Sentence 3.2.3.3.(1).

Intent | Intent 1: To limit the probability that an exposing building face
will have insufficient fire resistance, which could lead to the spread of
fire from the building to an adjacent building during the time required for
emergency responders to perform their duties, which could lead to damage to
adjacent buildings. |
