ObjectiveOP3 Protection of Adjacent Buildings from Fire
Attribution
Application
Application 1:
Area of unprotected openings in an exposing building face in a storage garage with all storeys constructed as open-air storeys, where the limiting distance is not less than 3 m.

Intent
Intent 1:
To exempt open-air storage garages from the requirements of Sentences 3.2.3.1.(1) and 3.2.3.7.(1) to (6), which would otherwise limit the area of unprotected openings, and permit unlimited unprotected openings, on the basis that the fire load of the contents is relatively low, the space is well ventilated and the limiting distance is not less than 3 m. These conditions are to limit the probability of the spread of fire from the garage to an adjacent building, which could lead to damage to adjacent buildings.
