Application 1: 
Location of skylights in a roof [minimum distance to an exposed wall], where:
  • a wall in a building is exposed to a fire hazard from an adjoining roof of a separate fire compartment that is not sprinklered in the same building, and
  • the exposed wall contains windows within 3 storeys vertically and 5 m horizontally of the roof.
This applies to buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A.
Exceptions: 
except as exempted in Sentence 3.2.3.19.(4), which applies to walkways of noncombustible construction used only as pedestrian thoroughfares.

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability of the spread of fire from one fire compartment to another fire compartment through windows above the roof of the fire compartment of origin, which could lead to harm to persons in the fire compartment not originally involved in the fire.
