Intent
Intent 1:
To limit the application of Sentence 3.2.3.16.(1) by excluding eaves overhangs [soffits] if certain conditions are met [eaves overhangs are completely separated from the remainder of the attic or roof space by fire stopping]. This is to limit the probability of the spread of fire from a suite or patient's sleeping room to a common attic or roof space through openings in the eaves overhangs, which could lead to the spread of fire through the common attic or roof space to other suites or patients' sleeping rooms, which could lead to harm to persons.
