Application | Application 1: Type of fire alarm system in:
This applies to buildings described
in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A in which fire alarm systems are
installed.
Application 2: This also applies, with respect to Clause 3.2.4.3.(1)(d),
to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) for application of Part 9] in which fire alarm systems
are installed, as stated in Sentence 9.10.18.6.(1).

Intent | Intent 1: To limit the probability that an inappropriate type of fire
alarm system, other than a single stage or a 2 stage system, would be installed
in a building, which could lead to inappropriate actions or delays in evacuation
or moving to a safe place, which could lead to harm to persons.
Intent 2: To exempt certain Group B occupancies [in Clause 3.2.4.3.(1)(c)]
from the application of Clause 3.2.4.3.(1)(b) which would otherwise
require a 2 stage fire alarm system. |
