Application
Application 1: 
Design, with respect to the minimum time before an alarm signal can be silenced automatically, of fire alarm systems in buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) in which fire alarm systems are installed.
Application 2: 
This also applies to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9] in which fire alarm systems are installed, as stated in Sentence 9.10.18.6.(1).

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that alarm signals will be prematurely silenced in a fire situation, which could lead to persons misinterpreting whether or not a real fire situation exists, which could lead to delays in evacuation or moving to a safe place, which could lead to harm to persons.
