Application
Application 1: 
Installation of [fire alarm system] annunciators in buildings:
  • in which an automatic sprinkler system is not installed,
  • that have an aggregate area for all storeys of not more than 2 000 m2, and
  • that are not more than 3 storeys in building height.
This applies to buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A in which fire alarm systems are installed.
Application 2: 
This also applies to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9] in which fire alarm systems are installed, as stated in Sentence 9.10.18.6.(1).

Intent
Intent 1: 
To supersede the requirements of Sentence 3.2.4.8.(1) and not require an annunciator, on the basis that the [small] building can be considered as a single fire alarm zone and the area of fire origin should be readily located.
