Application | Application 1: Use of audible signal devices, forming part of a fire
alarm or voice communication system, for playing music or background noise.
This applies to buildings described
in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A in which fire alarm systems are
installed.
Application 2: This also applies to buildings to
which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application
of Part 9] in which fire alarm systems are installed, as stated in Sentence 9.10.18.6.(1). |

Intent | Intent 1: To limit the probability that the integrity of fire alarm
systems will be compromised, which could lead to improper operation of the
fire alarm systems in a fire situation, which could lead to persons not being
properly notified of the fire situation, which could lead to delays in evacuation
or moving to a safe place, which could lead to harm to persons.
