Application | Application 1: Fire department connections for standpipe systems.
This applies to buildings described
in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A in which standpipe systems are
installed.
Application 2: This also applies to buildings to
which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application

Intent | Intent 1: To supersede the requirements of the standard referenced
in Sentence 3.2.5.9.(1) and require a fire department connection for
every standpipe system. This is to limit the probability that emergency responders
will not be able to supplement the water supply to standpipe systems, which
could lead to the ineffectiveness of firefighting operations, which could
lead to a fire not being suppressed or controlled, which could lead to the
spread of fire, which could lead to harm to persons. |
