  • the required flow for the sprinklers can be met by the domestic system.
This applies to buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A in which automatic sprinkler systems are installed.
Application 2:
This also applies to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9] in which automatic sprinkler systems are installed, as stated in Sentence 9.10.1.2.(8).

Intent
Intent 1:
To exempt small-sized sprinkler systems from the requirements of Sentence 3.2.5.13.(1) and permit the water supply to the sprinkler system to be supplied from the domestic water system, if the domestic supply will provide the required flow for the sprinklers. This is to limit the probability that the sprinkler system will not have an adequate water supply in a fire situation, which could lead to a fire not being suppressed or controlled, which could lead to the spread of fire to other parts of the building, which could lead to harm to persons.
