Application
Application 1: 
Installation of fast response sprinklers in residential occupancies and care or detention occupancy.
This applies to buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A in which automatic sprinkler systems are installed.
Application 2: 
This also applies to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9] in which automatic sprinkler systems are installed, as stated in Sentence 9.10.1.2.(8).

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that a fire will not be quickly suppressed or controlled, which could lead to the growth and spread of fire in areas where persons might be asleep, incapacitated or unable to evacuate without assistance, which could lead to harm to persons.
