Application
Application 1: 
Combustible sprinkler piping for wet systems in residential occupancies or other light-hazard occupancies.
This applies to buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A in which automatic sprinkler systems are installed.
Application 2: 
This also applies to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9] in which automatic sprinkler systems are installed, as stated in Sentence 9.10.1.2.(8).

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that a fire will negatively affect the sprinkler piping, which could lead to the failure of the piping, which could lead to the fire not being suppressed or controlled, which could lead to the spread of fire to other parts of the building, which could lead to harm to persons.
Intent 2: 
To limit the probability that the water supply to the dry sprinkler piping will be delayed in a fire situation, which could lead to the failure of the piping, which could lead to the fire not being suppressed or controlled, which could lead to the spread of fire to other parts of the building, which could lead to harm to persons.
