Application 1: 
Protection from freezing of equipment forming part of a fire protection system where the equipment:
  • could be adversely affected by freezing temperatures, and
  • is located in an unheated area.
This applies to buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A.

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that low temperatures will cause a blockage or impairment of fire protection system equipment, which could lead to improper operation of the equipment in a fire situation, which could lead to the fire not being suppressed or controlled, which could lead to the spread of fire, which could lead to harm to persons.
