Application 1: 
Location of controls for the remote release of a door-locking device permitted by Sentence 3.3.1.13.(6) on an egress door in an access to exit serving a contained use area or an impeded egress zone, in buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A.
Application 2: 
This also applies to tents and air-supported structures, as stated in Sentences 3.1.6.1.(1) and 9.10.1.2.(1).
Application 3: 
This also applies to the release hardware for:
  • sliding exit doors permitted to serve Group B, Division 1 occupancies or impeded egress zones in other occupancies, as stated in Sentence 3.4.6.13.(2), and
  • a principal entrance door to a building as well as exit doors that are permitted not to be readily openable, as stated in Sentence 3.4.6.15.(1).

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that security personnel will be delayed in locating and operating the door release hardware in an emergency situation, which could lead to persons being trapped in a contained use area or an impeded egress zone, which could lead to delays in the evacuation or movement of persons to a safe place, which could lead to harm to persons.
