Application
Application 1: 
Minimum required width, in an access to exit, of:
  • corridors,
  • doorways, and
  • ramps.
This applies to floor areas used or intended to be used for patients in a Group B, Division 2 occupancy.
Application 2: 
This also applies to tents and air-supported structures, as stated in Sentences 3.1.6.1.(1) and 9.10.1.2.(1).

Intent
Intent 1: 
To supersede the minimum width values of Sentences 3.3.1.17.(2) and (3) for corridors, doorways and ramps in an access to exit in Group B, Division 2 occupancies and require greater widths on the basis that during an emergency:
  • persons may need to be moved while still in beds, or
  • persons may need assistance from additional staff.
