| Application | Application 1: Fire-resistance rating of fire separations that separate a laundry room in a floor area that is not within a dwelling
unit from the remainder of the building,
where the floor area in which the laundry room
is located is sprinklered throughout.
This applies to buildings of residential
occupancy described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A.
Application 2: This also applies to tents and air-supported
structures, as stated in Sentences 3.1.6.1.(1) and 9.10.1.2.(1).

| Intent | Intent 1: To exempt the separations of laundry rooms from the application
of Sentence 3.3.1.22.(1) by waiving the requirement for a fire-resistance
rating on the basis that the floor area is sprinklered throughout.
This is to limit the probability that a fire will not be controlled
or suppressed, which could lead to the spread of fire, which could lead to
damage to the building.
