Intent | Intent 1: To exempt the separations of seating areas of Group A, Division
1 occupancies from the application of Sentence 3.3.2.2.(1) by permitting
a reduction in the fire-resistance rating from 1 h to 45
min on the basis that the floor assemblies in the building need not
have a fire-resistance rating of more than 45 min and, if they
failed, it would negate the remaining rating of the fire separation between
the seating areas and the remainder of the floor area. This
is to supersede the requirements of Sentence 3.3.2.2.(1) and permit
a lower minimum fire-resistance rating on the basis that the rating of the
separation need not be any more than the other assemblies that enclose the
seating area.
