Application 1: 
Maximum travel distance from seats, measured along the path of travel from the seats, to:
  • the ground,
  • an exit,
  • an opening to a passageway leading from the seating area, or
  • a portal, a vomitory or any other opening through the seating deck structure.
This applies to Group A, Division 4 occupancies.

To limit the probability of excessive travel distances to an area of refuge in an emergency situation, which could lead to delays in the evacuation or movement of persons to a safe place, which could lead to harm to persons.
