Application 1: 
Minimum clear width of doorways through which it is necessary to move patients in bed.
This applies to floor areas or parts of floor areas used, or intended for use, as a care or detention occupancy, in buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A.

Intent
Intent 1: 
To override the 800 mm value for the minimum width of a door leaf stated in Sentence 3.3.1.13.(1) so as to limit the probability that doors in corridors will be of insufficient width to permit the efficient movement of patients in bed in an emergency situation, which could lead to delays in the evacuation or movement of persons to a safe place, which could lead to harm to persons.
