Application 1: 
Maximum travel distance from any point within each fire compartment referred to in Sentence 3.3.3.5.(2) to a door to an adjoining fire compartment, in floor areas containing patients' sleeping rooms in a hospital or nursing home.
This applies to care or detention occupancy in buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A.

This also applies to tents and air-supported structures, as stated in Sentences 3.1.6.1.(1) and 9.10.1.2.(1).

To limit the probability of excessive travel distances to a door to an adjoining fire compartment, which could lead to delays in moving patients to the adjoining fire compartment in a fire situation, which could lead to harm to persons.
