Application | Application 1: Egress facilities from single storey dwelling units in apartment buildings,
where the dwelling units are served by private
stairways leading directly to a public access to exit on
the storey:
This applies to buildings described
in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A.
Application 2: This also applies to tents and air-supported
structures, as stated in Sentences 3.1.6.1.(1) and 9.10.1.2.(1).

Intent | Intent 1: To exempt certain egress facilities from the application
of Sentence 3.3.1.3.(8) requiring direct access to a public corridor,
exterior passageway or exterior exit doorway on the same storey, on the basis
that the occupants are familiar with the means of egress, and the time needed
to reach a safe place in an emergency is minimized. |
