Single exits permitted in Sentence 3.4.2.1.(2) from floor areas classified as Group B or Group C occupancies in buildings not more than 2 storeys in building height, where the total occupant load served by the exit is not more than 60, and where:
This applies to floor areas that are intended for occupancy, including mezzanines as stated in Sentence 3.4.2.2.(1), in buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A.

To limit the probability that differences in elevation between an exterior exit doorway and the adjacent ground level will lead to excessive travel distances in an emergency situation, which could lead to delays in the evacuation or movement of persons to a safe place, which could lead to harm to persons.
