Application 1: 
Protection from deterioration of wall and floor surfaces below the uppermost surfaces of urinals.
This applies to all buildings, as stated in Sentence 7.1.3.1.(1).
Exceptions: 
except as exempted in Sentence 7.1.3.2.(1), which applies to dwelling units.

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that urine will accumulate on, or be absorbed by, wall and floor surface materials near urinals, which could lead to unsanitary conditions, which could lead to harm to persons.
Intent 2: 
To limit the probability that wall and floor surface materials near urinals will not be conducive to cleaning and the removal of urine, which could lead to the accumulation or absorption of urine on the materials, which could lead to unsanitary conditions, which could lead to harm to persons.
