Application
Application 1: 
Guards at the front edges of stages and loading docks [that are higher than the floor or ground surface in front of them], in buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A.
Application 2: 
This also applies to tents and air-supported structures, as stated in Sentences 3.1.6.1.(1) and 9.10.1.2.(1).
Exceptions: 
except as stated in Clause 3.8.3.4.(1)(e), which applies to barrier-free design in buildings described in Sentence 3.8.1.1.(1).

Intent
Intent 1: 
To exempt the front edges of stages and loading docks from the requirements for guards stated in Sentence 3.3.1.18.(1), on the basis that the users are familiar with the hazard and that the function of the stage or loading dock would be negatively impacted by a guard.
