Application | Application 1: Fire separations or automatic
fire extinguishing systems for rooms used for welding and cutting operations,
in industrial occupancies where welding or cutting
operations do not pose a hazard to adjacent areas. This
applies to buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A.
Application 2: This also applies to tents and air-supported
structures, as stated in Sentences 3.1.6.1.(1) and 9.10.1.2.(1).

Intent | Intent 1: To exempt rooms that are located within industrial occupancies
and in which welding and cutting operations occur from the requirements of Sentence 3.3.1.25.(1), on the basis that persons are familiar with this type
of operation and other safety measures are expected to be provided in such
