Application | Application 1: Fire separations required
by Sentence 3.3.2.6.(1) between corridors used by the public in assembly occupancies as an access
to exit and the remainder of the floor area,
where the distance from any point in the floor area to
an exit measured along the path of travel to the exit does not exceed the travel distance permitted by Article 3.4.2.5. This applies to buildings described
in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A.

Intent | Intent 1: To exempt corridors used by the public in assembly occupancies
from the application of Sentence 3.3.2.6.(1), which would otherwise
require a fire separation, on the basis that the travel distance to an exit
is limited. This is to limit the probability of delays
in the evacuation or movement of persons to a safe place, which could lead
to harm to persons.
