Application | Application 1: Location of exit signs over
or adjacent to egress doorways from rooms with an occupant
load more than 60 in Group A, Division 1 occupancies,
dance halls, licensed beverage establishments, and other similar occupancies that,
when occupied, have lighting levels below that which would provide easy identification
of the egress doorway. This applies to floor
areas that are intended for occupancies,
including mezzanines as stated in Sentence 3.4.2.2.(1),
in buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A.
Application 2: This also applies to tents and air-supported
structures, as stated in Sentences 3.1.6.1.(1) and 9.10.1.2.(1).

Intent | Intent 1: To limit the probability that exit locations will not be
readily identified, which could lead to delays in the evacuation or movement
of persons to a safe place in an emergency situation, which could lead to
harm to persons. Intent 2: To expand the application of Sentences 3.4.5.1.(2), (3) and (4) to egress doorways from rooms.
