Intent
Intent 1:
To limit the probability that the maximum expected vertical forces acting on the structure will cause large displacements of the structural system as a whole or in part, or that maximum expected compressive forces acting on structural components will cause component buckling, which could lead to structural failure, which could lead to harm to persons.
