Application 1: 
Slope factor for calculating the specified snow load on sloped areas of roofs subject to snow accumulation.
Exceptions: 
except as stated in:
  • Sentence 4.1.6.2.(6), which applies to unobstructed slippery roofs, and
  • Sentence 4.1.6.2.(7), which specifies a slope factor of 1.0 when used in conjunction with shape factors for increased snow loads as given in
    • Clause 4.1.6.2.(8)(b), which applies to sloped roofs in roof valleys, an
    • Clause 4.1.6.2.(8)(e), which applies to sloped roofs subject to snow sliding or meltwater draining from adjacent roofs.
This applies to buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A and to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9] that are required to be designed in accordance with the requirements of Part 4.

Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that the slope factor will not take into account the site conditions affecting the maximum expected accumulation of snow on roofs, which could lead to structural failure, which could lead to harm to persons.
