Application 1: 
deep foundation units which are shown by inspection to be damaged or not consistent with the design or good engineering practice.
This applies to buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A and buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A] that are required to be designed to the requirements of Part 4.

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that a damaged or defective deep foundation unit will deform substantially due to the expected loads, which could lead to excessive displacement of the foundation unit, which could lead to:
  • damage to the building, and
  • distortion of the building, which could impede the use and occupancy of the building.
Intent 2: 
To direct Code users to the requirement of Article 2.2.4.7. of Division C concerning the recording of alterations on the design drawings.
