ObjectiveOS1 Fire Safety
Attribution
[F51,F63-OS1.4] Applies where required life safety systems are incorporated in environmental separators.
Application
Application 1:
Spray-in-place polyurethane insulation installed to provide resistance to heat transfer in building components and assemblies as well as at interfaces between components and assemblies described in Sentence 5.1.2.1.(1) that are installed in buildings to which Part 5 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A for application of Part 5].

Intent
Intent 1:
Where required life safety systems are incorporated in environmental separators, to limit the probability that the thermal performance of the installed material will fall significantly below expectations, which could lead to the inadequate control of heat transfer through environmental separators under expected environmental loads.
This is to limit the probability of compromised operation of temperature-sensitive or moisture-sensitive life safety systems, which could lead to harm to persons.
