Application 1: 
Control of interior air pressure in storage garages by mechanical ventilating systems required by Sentence 6.2.2.3.(1), where such storage garages adjoin buildings of other occupancy, or where adjacent portions of the same building have a different occupancy, in buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A
Application 2: 
This also applies to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9], with respect to the ventilation of storage garages for more than 4 motor vehicles in residential occupancies, as stated in Sentence 9.32.1.1.(3).
Exceptions: 
except as stated in:
  • Sentence 6.2.2.3.(4), which applies to garages where motor vehicles are parked by mechanical means, and
  • Sentence 6.2.2.3.(6), which applies to open-air storeys of storage garages.

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that a higher pressure in storage garages than in adjoining buildings will lead to the flow of contaminants into other occupied parts of the floor area or to adjacent buildings having a different occupancy, which could lead to harm to persons.
