Application 1: 
Control of air contaminant spread within buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A, where heating, ventilating or air-conditioning systems:
  • serve spaces that contain sources of contamination, or
  • serve other occupied parts of buildings but are located in or run through spaces that contain sources of contamination.
Application 2: 
This also applies to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9], with respect to:

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that the inappropriate design of heating, ventilating or air-conditioning systems will lead to the spread of contamination to other occupied parts of buildings, which could lead to negative effects on the air quality of indoor spaces, which could lead to harm to persons.
