Application 1: 
Materials for insulation and coverings on pipes in heating and cooling systems, in buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A.
Application 2: 
This also applies to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9], with respect to the design and installation of heating and air-conditioning systems, other than those serving individual dwelling units, as stated in Sentence 9.33.1.1.(2).

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that materials that are inappropriate for the application will have inadequate resistance to high temperatures or to mould or mildew, which could lead to the accelerated deterioration of the insulation and coverings on pipes, which could lead to hot or cold pipes being exposed, which could lead to harm to persons.
