Application
Application 1: 
Wired glass, in buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9]:
  • in doors or sidelights installed in fire separations between exit enclosures and floor areas, or as closures in vertical fire separations that are required to have a fire-resistance rating of not more than 1 h,
  • that is not less than 6 mm thick,
  • that has not been tested in accordance with the test methods described in Part 3, A-9.10.3.1. in Appendix A, or Appendix D, and
  • that is mounted in fixed steel frames having a metal thickness of not less than 1.35 mm and a glazing stop of not less than 20 mm on each side of the glass.

Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that the performance of wired safety glass will fall significantly below expectations, which could lead to failure, which could lead to the spread of fire to adjacent fire compartments, which could lead to harm to persons.
